Install deariary as an app, plus smoother page navigation

Two updates to how deariary feels as an app: you can now install it on your device, and page navigation is noticeably smoother.

Install deariary as an app

deariary now works as a Progressive Web App (PWA). Open the avatar menu in the top right corner and you will see an “Install” option. Tap it, and deariary gets added to your home screen or taskbar like a native app.

Once installed, deariary opens in its own window without the browser chrome. It is the same app, same data, just a cleaner experience.

The install option appears on Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers on desktop and mobile. Safari on iOS does not show the install prompt, but you can still add deariary to your home screen via the share menu.

Smoother page transitions

We enabled the View Transition API across the app. When you navigate between pages (opening an entry, switching between days, moving through settings), the transition is now a smooth fade with a subtle vertical slide instead of a hard page swap.

Entry cards on the list page morph into the detail view when you open them, giving a sense of continuity. The header, sidebar, and footer stay stable during transitions.

If you prefer reduced motion, the animations are automatically disabled to respect your system settings.
